What does the law state?
The relevant section of the law regarding the increase in residential house rent restricts landlords from increasing rent prices without authorization.
• Landlords can increase rent prices only once a year, based on the economic situation and other relevant factors as evaluated by the regulatory body.
• The residential house rent increase, as per this law, will be publicly announced by the regulatory body in June and will remain effective for one year starting from June 30.
• Without terminating the rental agreement, landlords cannot evict tenants or increase the rent beyond what is permitted by this law. This provides a safeguarding mechanism.
• Landlords are not allowed to request more than two months’ rent in advance.
• Rent payments must be made through banks or another legal electronic method. Both landlords and tenants are required to keep receipts of rent payments.
